Friday School Celebration
Submitted by : Deana Simpson
Principal, Monroe Center Grade School
Our Reverse Leadership Day at MC was a hit with students and staff. We had a tremendous response from staff family willing to share their talents and gifts with students in hopes that students continue to recognize their special talents and gifts. The next step is to have them use those gifts to determine what our Student Leadership Groups will be for FY22. So beyond proud of all of the staff and students at Monroe Center Grade School.

We would like to welcome the Regional Center for Change to the Education Endorsement Pathway grant. We can’t wait to get started in providing students support with preparing for their future education and career. Students will be supported through early career exploration, career-focused instruction and work based learning. ROE47 and SVCC are partnering with area schools to implement these programs. If you are looking for more information about the PWR Act, affecting all Illinois schools, contact Pathway Navigators, Chanda McDonnell cmcdonnell@roe47.org, Heather Waninger hwaninger@roe47.org, and Stacey Dinges sdinges@roe47.org. If you have any questions regarding the endorsement process please contact your school counselor or comment below.

Today is the last day to sign up for Trauma Informed/Trauma 101 ! Presented by Karla Belzer, U of I Extension
Thursday, April 29 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Becoming “trauma-informed” means recognizing that people often have many different types of trauma in their lives. People who have been traumatized need support and understanding from those around them. Often, trauma survivors can be re-traumatized by well-meaning caregivers and community service providers. The Illinois Trauma-Informed Care Approach project seeks to educate our communities about the impact of trauma on clients, co-workers, friends, family, and even ourselves. Understanding the impact of trauma is an important first step in becoming a compassionate and supportive community. This training will provide participants with shared understanding and language of trauma, awareness and prevalence of trauma, and a shift in thinking to become more trauma informed and aware.
