Center for Change is HIRING! Position - Para Professional
The goal of the paraprofessional is to increase the instructional capacity of the classroom teacher and the functional independence of the student through consistent, empathetic, and data-driven support.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Work with individual students or small groups to support the mastery of specific learning objectives.
2. Assist in the modification of classroom materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
3. Ensures that ALOP procedures are implemented with fidelity (ie obtaining consent, SSP goal development/monitoring, case note documentation, etc).
4. Utilize trauma-informed practices to assist students in self-regulation and de-escalation of stress-response patterns.
5. Maintain a consistent and positive presence to foster a safe and secure learning environment.
6. Provides ongoing support in areas of academic deficiencies (credit recovery, executive functioning support, tutoring, etc), social emotional development, and resources around other identified areas of need.
7. Encourage peer interaction and social skill development during structured and unstructured activities.Proactively communicates with parents/guardians in order to support student growth
8. Participate in team meetings and professional development to ensure alignment with district and state
standards.
9. Support the teacher in organizing the physical environment to optimize student focus and
participation.Monitors attendance, behavior, and grades
