We had an awesome Virtual Workplace Wednesday experience during our summer learning series. A sincere thank you to all of the businesses and schools participating in Workplace Wednesday. The businesses and schools took valuable time out of their busy schedules to provide a valuable and memorable learning experience for teachers, counselors, and administrators from Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside Counties. We sincerely appreciate their efforts to put together this learning experience from the PowerPoints to the videos shared. The teachers, counselors, and administrators who participated in Workplace Wednesday shared their comments and appreciation for the information and knowledge gained from each of the presenters. “Wahl Clipper/MIT: A great partnership between two fantastic institutions “ Brian Bartoz Wahl Clipper - Sudhir Brahmandam, Director Global R&D /WAHL Clipper Sudhir.brahmandam@wahlclipper.com https://us.wahl.com/ “Sudhir's presentation on the product development process was informative, from observation to development to manufacturing and service.”—Brian Bartoz Stahr Media - Janel & Nathan Stahrjanel@stahrmedia.com https://stahrmedia.com/ “Janel and Nathan Stahr would be a wonderful pair to come to talk to students about what it takes to become successful in the business world. They have taken a small business and really grown. What great role models!”—Greer Collins “I learned a lot about small businesses from Stahr Media. At RMS, we have Career Presentations periodically for our Advisory classes. Stahr Media would be a great addition to those visits. Students would benefit from hearing about a career that is based around art and what it is like to be your own boss. “—B. Renkes Donaldson - Amanda Shipp -Amanda.Shipp@donaldson.com Todd Sigel said “Another really informative day from the presenters and they gave us an abundance of information that we can take back to our classrooms to share with our students!!!” Morgan Johnson shared that she “really enjoyed learning about the manufacturing field since I don’t know much about it at all! Dana - Joel Lyman- joel.lynam@dana.com - https://www.dana.com/ “I liked how Joel Lyman (Dana Corp.) mentioned the importance of students being exposed to different types of tools and measurement devices (both digital and analog).” – Kevin Hendley Sandra Bechtel said, “DANA gives me reasons for telling my students that they really do need to learn Geometry!” “I learned “DANA will train on the job, it’s great to get a degree, but that doesn’t mean that you have to get it right away.” –Janet Crownhart

The Education Pathway program is excited to kick off another year with our area partnering schools. This week, we are excited to feature Morrison High School. Mrs. Jennifer Stevenson shares several of her class goals. " For the first time ever, a student is taking Introduction to Education Careers for the second time. My goal is to make this class more representative of student teaching, putting the student in a placement for a semester at a time instead of switching, and implementing a more in-depth curriculum with her regarding aspects of teaching and working with students". Great job, Mrs. Stevenson and good luck to the students at Morrison High School!

The Education Pathway program is excited to kick off another year with our area partnering schools. Last year, 4 area high school students earned an endorsement in the education pathway; getting one step closer to earning a college degree in education! With the recent shortage of educators, this work has proven to be vital in our area. This year, the pathway program will provide opportunities for more students to work towards earning endorsements in education. With increased community awareness of the pathway program, families can stay informed on how to best support their student while pursuing an education endorsement. For more information about the Education Pathway program, contact your school counselor or Chanda McDonnellat cmcdonnell@roe47.org, Heather Waninger at hwaninger@roe47.org, or Stacey Dinges at sdinges@roe47.org.
